While Camilla has five grandchildren from her previous marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles, she has a close relationship with the Cambridge royal children. But the Duchess admitted during a visit to a Slough school she skips the biscuits and fruits when having a snack, instead preferring raw peas.
Speaking to pupils at Godolphin Junior School in 2013, Camilla shared one of her favourite snacks was the raw vegetable.
She said: “I tell you what I really like – eating peas straight from the garden.
“If you take them straight from the pod they are delicious and really sweet.
“I take all my grandchildren down to the garden and they spend hours and hours eating peas.
“They eat and they eat until they are almost sick.”
Camilla also revealed she always keeps ketchup at home with Prince Charles just for her royal grandchildren.
In an appearance on Masterchef in 2018, the Duchess told judge Gary Mehigan the royal kids love the condiment.
She said, when asked what ingredients she thinks are essential : “I have to have, if I haven’t got fresh tomatoes, I’ll always have tomato puree.
“And I’m afraid to say, even ketchup.
“My grandchildren are rather addicted to ketchup.”
Judi James, body language expert, observed pictures from Trooping the Colour.
She told Express.co.uk: “It looks as though a natural nurturing response has kicked in here for Camilla as little George looks about to try to clamber up onto the balcony.
“Holding her arm out like this does suggest she’s keeping an eye out in terms of safety and the gesture looks like one of spontaneous caution.
“This air of keeping a granny-eye on the children doesn’t seem to be something Camilla has learned from Charles, who leans back with a bit of a puzzled-looking frown as his wife steps up to take charge here.”

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, may also experience a “little tension” with Charles and Camilla over her children, royal experts Jennie Bond and Tom Quinn claim.
Speaking on Channel 5’s ‘When the Middletons Met the Monarchy’, Mr Quinn said: “I suspect everyone thinks that in terms of the children, the royal family will inevitably have the most influence, but that is entirely wrong.
“It will be the Middletons that have the influence, because the royal family is too formal, it’s too stuck in its ways.”
Ms Bond added: “I suppose there is a little tension at times between who gets to see the grandkids the most.
“Kate will always turn to Carole for help, advice guidance, and just get together and romping around with the kids – possibly before she would get together with Camilla and Charles.”
