Camilla health latest: Will Charles be alone on his birthday amid Camilla poor health?

Prince Charles is seeing in his 71st birthday in India, where he’s undertaking a two-day visit as part of a tour with his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. But after Camilla was forced to pull out of engagements recently due to poor health, some are concerned for her wellbeing.

On Thursday last week, Camilla, 72, was due to visit the Field of Remembrance in the grounds of Westminster Abbey with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Thursday.

However, a spokeswoman said that Camilla’s doctor told her to cancel her engagements because of a chest infection that had “got progressively worse” of late.

She and the Prince of Wales were pictured on a visit to a farmers’ market in west London earlier that day.

But the Duchess was forced to cancel her scheduled appearance at a gala dinner in London to mark the 200-year anniversary of Prince Albert’s birth.

She managed to make it for Remembrance Sunday, where she stood with the Queen and observed as her husband laid a wreath on the Cenotaph.

Shortly after, the couple were due to head off for their autumn tour.

It is thought the Duchess has remained in the UK for the first leg to get some more recovery time.

She’s expected to meet up with her husband in New Zealand on November 17.

This means the Prince will be spending his birthday without his wife.

However, Prince Charles hasn’t been short of well-wishers, welcomed to a school in Mumbai by a group of school children who gave him a card and birthday cake.

This marks the Prince’s 10th trip to India overall and his second in two years.

In 2017, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, had visited India, as part of their 10-day tour to Asian countries, including Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.

Clarence House said the trip would “focus on sustainable markets, climate change and social finance”.

Heading on to New Zealand, Charles and Camilla “will visit programmes and organisations working in areas they are committed to supporting.

“The Prince will focus on young people and youth opportunity, as well as environmental issues – with particular emphasis on tackling plastic waste.

“The Duchess will continue her focus on key themes including domestic violence and literacy.”

During their time in Auckland, Charles and Camilla will receive an official welcome at Government House and meet with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

They will also travel to Christchurch, where they will see first-hand the regeneration of the city since the 2011 earthquake and see how the community has rallied to support the families affected by the two Mosque attacks in the city in March.

The tour will mark Charles and Camilla’s third joint visit to New Zealand, they previously travelled to the country in 2015 and 2012.

Charles will then head on another solo trip to Tuvalu and the Solomon Islands, where he will concentrate on environmental issues, climate change and ocean preservation.
