According to royal biographer Penny Junor, the 74-year-old royal will have a “very difficult time” when her husband ascends the throne, partly due to comparisons with Prince Charles’ first wife, Princess Diana. Ms Junor said: “She is a normal woman who, because of her relationship with Charles, has found herself in an abnormal situation.
“I don’t think titles do it for her, and the prospect of being Queen or Princess Consort, the fuss there will be at the time, the comparisons to Diana, it will be a very difficult time for her.”
However speaking to the Telegraph, she speculated that Camilla would take the title of Queen rather than Princess Consort, because “Charles is so proud” and “grateful” for her.
By law, the Duchess of Cornwall will automatically become Queen Consort when Charles is king, but there has been speculation about whether or not she would take a lesser title, such as Princess Consort, to avoid controversy.
The royal biographer’s opinion was echoed by a former courtier.
They noted that, because the Duchess was 57-years-old when she married Charles, she spent most of her life living outside of the Royal Family.
The former courtier told the newspaper: “She understands how strange the world of the Royal Family can be, and how the public sees that, and knows that at times her husband, the Prince of Wales, can’t see that.”
The insider added Charles’ wife has “none of the apparatus” of royal life at her house in Wiltshire, claiming she engages in a “fairly normal” existence.
They said: “Her children will tell her how the outside world views things the Royal Family are doing.

“It means she is better able than almost anyone else to persuade certain members of the Royal Family of a certain point of view that they might not see otherwise.”
However, despite her alleged reluctance to be in the spotlight, the future Queen consort has been praised for the prominent role she has played in supporting the Queen amid her recent health issues.
She has held a prominent position at various recent events in the Queen’s absence, such as the Remembrance Sunday service last weekend at the Cenotaph.
The Queen had to cancel her attendance at the last minute as a result of a back injury.

Camilla is now undertaking a royal tour of Egypt and Jordan with Prince Charles.
The 74-year-old royal joined Queen Rania of Jordan on a joint visit to a children’s home, where the pair took part in a range of activities with local children, including a “life skills” workshop with teenage girls, teaching them about building self-esteem and assertiveness.
The event took place at the Queen Rainia Family and Children Centre (QRFCC), which was established in 2005 to offer child protection activities to families of Jordanian, Palestinian and Syrian origins.
The centre aims to provide services that combat child abuse and support families from across the nation.
This is an issue that appears to be close to the Duchess of Cornwall’s heart, as she has long been seen to support women’s issues, in particular, campaigns to end violence against women.
The royal trip to Jordan was initially planned for March 2020 but had to be pushed back as a result of the pandemic.
