Caller loses temper at Farage in fiery clash on memo leak – ‘You and Trump are soulmates!’
The caller accused Nigel Farage of being “soulmates” with Donald Trump, labelling the US President a “loser”. The caller, Alan from Paddington, also claimed Mr Farage “links everything to Brexit”. During a debate on whether Sir Kim Darroch should be sacked following memo leaks, Alan told LBC: “I know you and Donald are soulmates and you’ve got a special relationship but leave that aside.
“Donald Trump, how many times did he go public and talk about a lot of world leaders, a lot of high profile politicians, lately Sadiq Khan.
“All the ambassador did was he emailed the Foreign Office and said this is my opinion, and I’m quite surprise that you are not aware of these things.
“You are surprised that he mentioned all these things about Donald Trump. Everybody knows Donald Trump is a loser.”
Mr Farage questioned: “A loser, oh really? He’s a loser is he Alan? Hang on a second, how is he a loser?”
The caller raged: “I know you get offended by me calling him a loser, you know why? Because he’s a friend of yours.
“You are on the national radio so you should put that aside, I’m talking to Nigel Farage the presenter on LBC, not Nigel Farage Donald Trump’s friend.”
Mr Farage hit back: “So the guy that’s worth $7billion and is the most powerful man in the world is a loser? According to Alan in Paddington.”
After Mr Farage described Sir Darroch as a “disgrace”, the caller shouted: “He is a Remainer, that’s why. You link everything to Brexit.”
Mr Farage replied: “Well I’m very sorry to say that is the dividing line in life now, it is the defending issue of our age.”
The heated comments follow Sir Kim claiming Donald Trump was “incompetent”, “inept” and “insecure” in the leaked memos.
He also said the White House had become “uniquely dysfunctional” with Mr Trump as President, due to “vicious infighting and chaos”. He said: “We don’t really believe this administration is going to become substantially more normal; less dysfunctional; less unpredictable; less faction driven; less diplomatically clumsy and inept.”
Mr Darroch also said the president had been “dazzled” by the pomp and ceremony of his state visit to the UK in June.
Calling for the ambassador to be sacked, the Brexit Party leader warned these leaked memos have done serious damage to the US-UK relationship. Mr Farage insisted Sir Kim’s replacement should be someone outside of the civil service because it is “not politically neutral”.

He added: “It would be a very good signal to find somebody from outside of the Foreign Office or outside of the civil service.
“You know, a retired business figure – something like that would send the right message.”
Following the release of the memos, US President Donald Trump has hit out at the ambassador.
Mr Trump told reporters: “The ambassador has not served the UK well, I can tell you that. We are not big fans of that man and he has not served the UK well.
“So I can understand it, and I can say things about him but I won’t bother.”
A formal inquiry is set to be held into the leak of the memos.
