Cabinet reshuffle live – Boris Johnson to reorganise his cabinet later today

Westminster is bracing for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to start a highly-anticipated Cabinet reshuffle this afternoon.

No 10 confirmed the news earlier today, with a spokesperson saying: ‘The PM will today conduct a reshuffle to put in place a strong and united team to Build Back Better from the pandemic.

‘The PM will be appointing ministers this afternoon with a focus on uniting and levelling up the whole country.’

Dominic Raab, the foreign secretary, and Gavin Williamson, the education secretary, have both been subjected to persistent rumours they could face the chop.

Liz Truss, the international trade secretary, is among those tipped for a promotion, as is Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove.

Johnson is expected to start the reshuffle after his appearance in the Commons for his weekly head-to-head with Labour leader Keir Starmer at prime minister’s questions.
