The victim of the instant noodle nabbing believes the robber tried to make off with the snack to sell them. Merseyside Police responded to reports of a man climbing a roof after the theft earlier this week.

Christine Gibson, who lives in St Helens, on the outskirts of Liverpool, said it was her house that was targeted by the junk food filcher.

Nothing else was stolen from the house, she told the Liverpool Echo.

Officers descended on Knowsley Road at around 5.15am on November 17 to apprehend the thief.

Police confirmed a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary on that road that night.

Ms Gibson told the Echo: “When I saw a man in my garden on our camera, I phoned the police straight away.

“He jumped on the roof of the flats next to my house; me and my daughter are fine, just both really shaken up.”

She added: “He didn’t take anything except for eight Pot Noodles – beef and tomato flavoured king-sized ones.

“I didn’t even realise they were missing until my daughter went and checked, and I knew they were missing as I normally buy twelve at a time.

“I had my mobility scooter – I think he tried to get that out and spotted the noodles.

“He didn’t take the chicken and mushrooms ones, but you can sell Pot Noodles for 50p, so I think he took them to sell.”

Merseyside Police were contacted for an update on the arrest.

Launched in 1977, the Pot Noodle contains dehydrated noodles and flavoured powder.

It is prepared by adding boiling water and is usually supplied with a sachet of sauce for topping.

King size Pot Noodles contain an extra 24g of food to normal-sized ones.

According to the latest prices in Tesco, the burglar in question would have made off with just £5.52 worth of product.
