Buckingham Palace under siege by plague of rodents infecting grounds, shock report reveals

Droppings from the rodents are said to have been spotted around the Garden Cafe, an outside venue where visitors take tea by the Buckingham Palace lawn. According to the Mirror, pest control workers have been called to the site by Palace officials.

Kitchen staff have also received guidance on how to avoid attracting rodents.

When Buckingham Palace is open, visitors can pay up to £49 to view parts of the building.

As part of the trip they can enjoy cream tea at the Garden Cafe at an additional cost of £7.

Scones, cheesecake and pastries can also be purchased from the venue.

Coffee is served in cups complete with a royal logo in recognition of the venue.

It is believed mouse droppings has been found near a dishwasher and under a sink on the site.

Speaking to the Mirror about the Garden Cafe a Palace source said: “It’s a huge treat.

“The closest most people can get to Her Majesty. So this is embarrassing.”

Sarah Sutton, director of public protection at Westminster council, noted she was aware of the issue.

She commented: “I was informed this area was not easy to clean as staff were unable to mop due to a large electrical generator stored here.

“I believe there should be bespoke pest control procedures for the premises taking into account the limitations.

“I would encourage you to continue to work with your pest-control contractor to ensure the premises remain pest-free.”

Also in attendance were Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Seated one line back were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was also in the audience, along with girlfriend Carrie Symonds.

At the event Kate wore a dark navy blue dress held together around her waist by a smart black belt.
