Britons blast Prince Harry for not flying to see father-in-law Thomas Markle in person
Thomas Markle spoke of his pain of not meeting his grandson Archie Mountbatten Windsor. He also said son-in-law Prince Harry should “man up” and fly to see him after he failed to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage in person. The 75-year-old told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid yesterday: “I actually think Harry should have come to me at the beginning.
“He asked for her hand over the phone, and I actually think that in hindsight now I think that a royal, who has a plane at any time he wants it, could have come down to Mexico and asked for her hand in person to me.
“I love my daughter and I certainty would love my grandson and I’d love Harry if I met him, I’m sure.
“Man up and come down and see me.”
Readers were also asked between 9.42am yesterday and 7.40am today whether Prince Harry should fly to see Thomas in person.
Out of the 5,504 people who voted in the poll , 3,682 (67 percent) said yes.
Meanwhile, 1,638 voters (30 percent) did not think Harry needed to see his father-in-law.
And 184 (three percent) people did not know.
Many readers also shared their thoughts on why Harry should have met Thomas before the couple got engaged.
And others also believe Meghan should visit her father as well as Harry.
One person said: “I think Harry needs to speak to him, after all there are two sides to the story.”
Another reader added: “Harry should have visited Meghan’s father before he asked her to marry him.
“He should have built a relationship with his father in law.”

But a third said: “I reckon this is Meghan’s responsibility not Harry’s.
“They should go visit her father.”
Someone else simply said: “It’s too late.”
Thomas also criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for stepping back from royal duties to live in Canada.
He believes it is “never going to work”.
He said: “I think they’ve hurt the Queen. I think they’ve hurt the royals.
“I’m a little embarrassed for them, and feeling very sorry for the Queen.”
And he emotionally admitted he had already planned what he would say if he ever saw Meghan again.
