British woman killed in speedboat crash while on holiday in Turkey
A British woman has died and her husband has been badly injured after a boating accident.
Anna Capuano, 45, was in a speedboat that crashed into a water taxi off the coast of Marmais, Turkey, at 1.30pm yesterday.
Her body was brought back to shore while others were taken to a water sports jetty from where they were taken to hospital.
Among them was her husband who is in a critical condition in intensive care near the resort where they were staying.
The captain of the sea taxi, 22, and two of their passengers suffered minor injuries.
The crash was caught on camera and pictures show significant damage to the boat the couple were on.
A 44-year-old woman from London on holiday in Marmaris told The Sun last night: ‘It was an awful crash and a lot of the people who saw it were wandering around in shock.
‘Some of the injured were in a terrible state and the dead lady was brought ashore in a body bag – she clearly had no chance.
‘The sea was a bit chaotic with so many speedboats and para-sailing boats roaring around but no one ever expected this.
‘There’s was a rumour that one of the drivers wasn’t concentrating and was fixing his hair when the crash happened – but the police aren’t confirming anything.’
Local authorities are investigating.
