British Museum boss quits over thousands of stolen treasures
The director of the British Museum has quit after making ‘misjudged’ comments after thefts from the British Museum.
Hartwig Fischer, 61, will be stepping down with immediate effect following the controversy.
Mr Fischer has expressed regret at his handling of the probe into the theft or destruction of more than 150 items from the museum.
