British expat who killed his wife visits her grave after prison release
A British pensioner has visited the grave of his terminally ill wife in Cyprus for the first time since being released from prison after he killed her to end her suffering.
Retired miner David Hunter was released from custody on Monday after a court sentenced him to two years in jail for the manslaughter of Janice, his spouse of 52 years.
Mrs Hunter was buried at a cemetery minutes from the couple’s Cyprus home in Tremithousa after her death in December 2021 – a small village near the coastal resort town of Paphos.
Hunter, 76, had been unable to visit her grave as he was admitted to hospital immediately after her death following a failed suicide attempt, then taken into custody and prosecuted for murder.
