Bristol: Daniel Magee charged over weapons haul that led to homes being evacuated

A man has been charged with making an explosive substance after the discovery of weapons at a house in Bristol forced neighbours to evacuate their homes.

Police have also charged Daniel Magee, of Shetland Road in Southmead, Bristol, with possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid, gas, or electrical incapacitation device.

The 38-year-old has also been charged with possessing a knife/blade in a public place and importing prohibited weapons/ammunition with intent to evade a restriction.

Magee will appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Monday over the four alleged offences as officers continue to search the property where the haul was found on Saturday, which saw a 50-metre cordon put in place.

Somerset and Avon Police thanked residents “for their support, patience and understanding over the past two days”, with an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team having been deployed to assist.

The EOD personnel have now left the scene, with their presence having been described as a “precautionary” measure due the the nature of some of the items found.
