‘Brexiteers are being VILIFIED’ – Young activist hits out at ‘BULLYING’ of Brexit backers
Ms Westley worked for the official ‘Vote Leave’ campaign during the 2016 referendum. She has gone on to become a prominent advocate of Brexit, making frequent appearances on TV and radio. However the young campaigner is worried by the vitriol she claims is being directed at many ‘Leave’ supporters.
Speaking to Express.co.uk Ms Westley commented: “What I have noticed is anyone who goes out there and publicly says ‘we should respect the result’ is instantly vilified.
“Called racist, little Englander, some bizarrely misogynist abuse.
“All of these labels and its really quite shocking.
“I’ve been watching from Westminster the way in which a lot of the remain supporting presenters and commentators have just completely tried to vilify lots of people in this country that don’t have a voice.”
A number of high profile young Brexit activists have previously told Express.co.uk they have faced abuse because of their views.

Lucy Harris, founder of Leavers of London, said she was once abused on the London underground for carrying a bag emblazoned with a pro-Brexit slogan.
She added that amongst her members 85 percent felt London is hostile towards ‘Leave’ voters.
Ms Westley suggested some extreme remainers were launching personal attacks as a way of shutting down debate.
Asked whether some young Brexiteers have been bullied into silence she replied: “Absolutely.
“That’s why a lot of the bullying happens, because it’s actually a very smart strategy.
“If you try to tear down anyone who stands up and says ‘I believe in this country, I want independence’, if you vilify them and bully them it will make others afraid to do the same.
“It’s not a nice thing to happen to anyone so I don’t think it’s cowardly to protect yourself from that.”
Brexit talks are due to resume later today between the Government and Labour opposition in a bid to find a deal that can pass Parliament.
The House of Commons has already rejected Mrs May’s withdrawal agreement three times.
Ms Westley expressed concern at the Government’s failure to take Britain out of the EU.
She said: “We were supposed to leave on March 29 and the Prime Minister said over and over again that no deal would be better than a bad deal.
“I don’t feel like I can trust the Government to implement anything they say they’re going to implement.
“It’s a huge betrayal of the British public and it’s simply unacceptable.”
The UK is due to take part in European Parliament elections on May 23.
A number of polls have suggested the Brexit Party will win, with the Conservative Party being pushed into third or fourth place.
Ms Westley admitted she is worried about what the Government’s failure to deliver Brexit says about UK democracy.
She asserted: “I’m really worried.
“I’m worried that it’s going to be difficult for the trust to be restored in the system if Brexit doesn’t happen, the trust has already been broken by the Government not taking Britain out of the EU by the date they said Britain would leave the EU.
“It’s going to take a lot of trust to rebuild that trust with voters in this country.”
