Brexiteer demands Theresa May be as STUBBORN with EU – ‘want to SCREW us to the floor’

Leave supporter and Tory MP Bernard Jenkin argued that Theresa May is able to be stubborn when it comes to the House of Commons but fails to be as stubborn when dealing with the EU. He added that Mrs May had lost even more support from the Tory party as MPs were forced to vote for her deal through gritted teeth. He also noted that her decision to include Jeremy Corbyn with Brexit negotiations would divide the Labour and Tory party.

While speaking on TalkRadio he said: “The Labour party is just as divided if not more divided than the Tory party on all this.

“We all know Jeremy Corbyn in his heart is a Leaver, he correctly says if there is to be a second referendum, Leave must be on the ballot paper, not this nonsense that the Peoples Vote people want where it is Theresa May’s deal or Remain.

“Theresa May’s deal is virtually Remain, the reason why the EU is so keen for us to sign up to this withdrawal agreement is because it stuffs us and it stitches up the United Kingdom in the most humiliating deal so that we hardly leave.

“It is Brexit in name only that is why they want to screw us to the floor with that deal.

“If only Theresa May had been just as stubborn with the European Union in the Brexit negotiations.

“I mean she is stubborn with her colleagues and is stubborn with the House of Commons.”

Before he began his rant on Mrs May’s ability to maintain a stubborn demeanour towards the EU he explained the potential issues the Prime Minister will face by having a softer Brexit.

He said: “If we finish up with a Corbyn Brexit I don’t expect the Conservative Party to vote for it.

“Most of my colleagues are voting for this withdrawal agreement of Theresa May through gritted teeth.

“If it has the customs union stuck on as the condition or there is a referendum.

“There is no way a large number of my colleagues will put it through.

“It may go through with but that would be a kind of May loyalist rump in the Conservative Party and the Labour Party.

“It just shows she has lost support in the Tory party for what she is doing.”
