Brexiteer Bridgen hints at defecting to Farage’s Brexit Party if ‘Boris buckles’ on Brexit

Leave supporter Andrew Bridgen refused to directly answer whether he would join the Brexit Party if Boris Johnson failed to deliver Brexit with the Tories. He insisted that in the event Brexit is not delivered he would have to assess his position in Parliament and consider his options. He added that if he was to step away from politics entirely he would go back into business, in hopes of making lots of money he said jokingly.

Mr Bridgen was asked by talkRADIO hosts James Whale: “If Boris Buckles, I’m sure he won’t, but if he does and things go awry.

“As there are still a lot of people who want to Remain at any cost.

“Would you then consider doing something like joining the Brexit Party?”

Mr Bridgen took a long pause and replied: “I think if we buckle now and don’t deliver Brexit as a Conservative Party.

JUST IN: Boris will force Queen to make ‘tricky’ Brexit decision that could divide nation

“I think I just have to consider my position in Parliament altogether.

“I’ve got better things to do with my life than this.

“If we don’t deliver what we promised there is no future in it.”

The talkRADIO host then offered words of comfort before continuing to ask what the Tory MP would go on to do.

Mr Bridgen jokingly replied he would go back into business in hopes of making lots of money.

Mr Whale then questioned whether Mr Bridgen would like to see Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage join the Conservative Party.

He replied: “I would like anyone who is not a socialist to vote Conservative and join the Conservative Party.

“Because the alternatives don’t bear thinking about.

“So anyone who is not a socialist and not signed up to Jeremy Corbyn’s hard-left agenda should be voting Conservative and should join the Conservative Party.”

Boris’ determination to deliver Brexit by October 31 by any means has divided MPs with some insisting that a deal must be agreed and others content with a no-deal Brexit.
