The Brexit Party leader held talks with Trump on the final day of his UK visit where the pair spoke of Brexit preparations. Following their meeting, Mr Farage wrote that Trump “really believes in Brexit and is loving his trip to London” on his Twitter page. Among one of the few British politicians to meet Trump during his three-day visit to the UK, Mr Farage also criticised the current preparations in the UK for Brexit.

Speaking to the Independent, he said: “What I was struck by was how serious they are about this and their preparation.

“They seem to have done a lot more thinking about this than we have.”

Mr Farage’s comments come as Trump concludes his visit to the UK in a trip where he has promised the country of a “substantial” trade agreement.

Moreover, Mr Farage’s meeting with Trump coincides with today’s Peterborough by-election which could see the Brexit Party claim its first MP.

The seat became vacant after Labour MP Fiona Onasanya was stripped following her conviction for perverting the course of justice over a speeding offence.

Brexit Party hopeful Mike Greene is widely expected to win with Labour and the Liberal Democrats finishing behind Mr Farage’s party.

If the Brexit Party were to win today, it would mark an incredible surge since its conception following their landslide victory in the European Parliament elections.

The party secured 28 of the 73 British European Union seats and almost a third of the votes in last month’s European elections as the public punished the Tories and Labour for their failure over Brexit.

Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn failed to come to a compromise over their recent talks with the former being recently announcing her resignation.

The current Prime Minister has failed to pass her Brexit deal through Parliament and had initially intended to pull the UK out of the EU before the EU elections.

Following her resignation, Boris Johnson and Michael Gove have become the two frontrunners to take over.

Mr Johnson recently warned that the party could “face extinction” if they do not deliver on Brexit.
