Brexit Party fury: Farage declares war on ‘fake polling’ after shock results – EXCLUSIVE

The Brexit Party chief claimed the negative forecast for his movement is a “clear establishment attempt to suppress our polling numbers”. The BMG Research opinion poll for the Independent put the Brexit Party on just 14 percent, with the Conservative Party on 28 percent, Labour trailing by a single point on 27 percent and the pro-Brussels Liberal Democrats on 18 percent. The survey suggested voters were abandoning the Brexit Party, which stormed to victory in May’s European elections, for the Tory party amid pledges from Boris Johnson to quit the European Union without a deal on October 31.

Mr Farage lashed out at the BMG Research opinion poll after his Brexit Party were not considered alongside the traditional mainstream parties.

Participants were asked to chose between the Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems, or if they support the Brexit Party, Change UK, Green Party or UKIP by selecting the “another party” option.

The Brexit Party leader told Express.co.uk: “It is staggering that despite being the biggest political party in the EU, BMG do not include Brexit Party with the other major parties in their polls and instead put us down in the ‘other’ category – alongside the Greens and failed Change UK.

“This looks like a clear establishment attempt to suppress our polling numbers. If companies like BMG do not consider winning a national election enough reason to prompt for The Brexit Party in Westminster voting intentions, then we consider all research conducted in this dishonest way to be fake polling.”

The shock poll also found that Britons would vote to remain in the EU if they were asked the same question as in the 2016 referendum – “should the UK remain a member of the EU, or leave the EU?”.

Remain found itself six-points ahead of leave on 53 percent while Brexit only returned 47 percent of the vote.

A majority of voter would also rather abandon Brexit or hold a second referendum than face the prospect of a no-deal Brexit on October 31, the poll found.

BMG Research interviewed 1,532 UK adults online between July 2 and 5 before their findings were published last week.

Despite the polling blow, Mr Farage has insisted he has met with Tory party donors who would flock to the Brexit Party “in droves” ahead of a general election if Britain remains in the EU beyond the end of October.

“At the moment all we hear from the Conservatives is aggression. Arrogance and aggression. As if it is their divine right to these votes. It isn’t,” he said.

He warned that any attempt to revitalise Theresa May’s Brexit deal by Mr Johnson would end with “years and years of endless conflict and misery”, Mr Farage told the Telegraph.

“The funding will come. We’re raising lots of lots of bits of little money and when you do that the big money follows,” he added.

“I promise you that if on October 31, Britain is still in the EU, major Tory donors will come to us in droves. I’ve met them already.”
