Brexit Day party BEGINS: Jubilant Leavers kick off celebrations as they wave goodbye to EU
Delighted Leavers have started their Brexit Day celebrations ahead of Britain’s official exit from the European Union later tonight. The UK leaves the EU at 23:00 GMT on Friday, ending 47 years of British membership to the European bloc. To commemorate the occasion, hundreds of jubilant Brexiteers have already kicked off celebrations.
Video footage uploaded on social media show crowds of Brexiteers chanting and celebrating as they pile into Parliament Square tonight.
Several could be chanting “bye bye EU” while others held up placards celebrating the country’s imminent departure.
Brexiteers could also be heard singing “we are leaving” and “Boris we love you”.
Nigel Farage is hosting a ‘Leave Means Leave Brexit Celebration’ this evening, which starts from 9:30pm tonight.

Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe, Wetherspoon founder Tim Martin, broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer and Brexit Party chair Richard Tice are all expected to speak to the crowds.
One Brexit Party MEP Nathan Gill tweeted a video proclaiming that Parliament Square tonight would become “Brexit Square, the place be to usher in the new and exciting chapter in our Nations story”.
Richard Tice, chair of the Brexit Party, told the BBC that tonight’s gathering in Parliament Square will be “a celebration of democracy”.
He said: “It’s absolutely right to celebrate that democracy has ultimately prevailed over the establishment, over big business, with all their scare mongering.”
Earlier in the day, counter Remain protests brandished placards promising “we’ll be back” referring to Britain’s re-entry into the European Union.
Other signs read: “You have destroyed my future, career and dreams.”
In Brussels, the UK Representation to the EU has already lowered the European flag outside its building in Brussels.

In France, President Emmanuel Macron bemoaned that the UK’s exit from the EU was “a shock”.
In a brief TV address, he said: “It’s a historic warning sign which must be heard by all of Europe and make us reflect.”
He went on to demand “more Europe” in order to deal with the threat of the US and China.
However, he restated his belief that much of the referendum campaign was “based on lies, exaggerations, simplifications, cheques that were promised and will never be delivered”.
EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier echoed Mr Macron’s remarks, tweeting: “I am with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, on this grave Brexit day.
“European unity is more necessary now than ever.”
