Boy falls from sky as ‘freak’ weather sends zorb ball flying
Boy in inflatable zorb ball swept up into the air
A video has captured the moment a boy whose zorb ball was lifted into the sky by strong winds fell back to earth.
Merseyside Police has asked members of the public to come forward after the boy, 9, was seen flying through the air in the plastic container last weekend at the Southport Food and Drink Festival.
The video taken by a bystander on Sunday, June 4, shows the ball being picked up from a pool at the festival, and cast high into the air before it falls down to the ground below.
Witnesses at the scene said the incident was the result of a “freak weather phenomena” that lifted him 20ft into the air.
Merseyside Police said the boy was taken to hospital with “multiple serious injuries” after the zorb ball landed and staff members rushed to the scene.
He was described as being in a serious but stable condition, and police have since launched an investigation.
The video, which was originally posted on Twitter, has now racked up 5,000 views.
