A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenagegirl in Wiltshire, police have said.

Officers were called to a house on Springfield Drive in Calne shortly before 3.15pm on Friday.

The girl’s body was found inside, and despite an ambulance crew attending to her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested in the Chippenham area – also yesterday afternoon.

Superintendent Conway Duncan from Wiltshire Police said a “robust police response was launched yesterday and will continue in the days to come”.

He added that people in Calne were “likely to see a significant police presence in the area over the weekend as our enquiries progress”.
