Boy, 4, rushed to hospital after being mauled by savage XL Bully in park
A four-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after being mauled by an XL Bully in a horrific attack while he was playing with his brother in an East London park.
Nehal Islam was bitten by a dog on his left arm and the pet “shook him around so much that his shoes came off” in Newham shortly before 6.30pm on Monday (September 11).
The boy was playing frisbee with his father and brother at Hermit Road Recreation Ground in Canning Town when he was attacked by the dog.
His 11-year-old brother, Nabil said he noticed a group of dogs in the corner of the park while he played with his family.
He told MyLondon: “Two smaller dogs were on a leash, but I could see a much bigger one was running around freely.

“Suddenly the dog came chasing after us while we were playing, it looked like it was the same size as me.
“Me and my brother got separated from my dad, but then the dog attacked Nehal because he’s smaller. He then bit his leg and shook him around so much that his shoes came off. My heart was beating so much, everything was happening so fast
“My dad then ran in and had to rip my brother’s shorts off to stop the dog from attacking him. It was traumatic to see the bites on his legs, I was very upset. It was disgusting. I thought I was in a dream.”
According to the family members, Nehal suffered five bite marks in the attack and underwent an operation on Wednesday (September 13).

The four-year-old is continuing to stay in the hospital as the doctors will take a call on Friday (September 15) whether he can return home for further recovery.
The attack came as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that American XL bully dogs are to be banned by the end of the year.
The Prime Minister said the dogs, which campaigners have linked to at least 14 human deaths since 2021, are a danger to children and communities, in a video posted to social media.
He said he shared “the nation’s horror” over videos of recent dog attacks and had ordered urgent work to define “and ban this breed so we can end these violent attacks and keep people safe.”

XL bully attacks have sprung to national attention in recent months due as the Dog Control Coalition – endorsed by the RSPCA, Battersea and Dogs Trust among other organisations – says the current approach to dangerous dogs “isn’t working”.
On Saturday (September 9) an 11-year-old girl from Birmingham was left with shoulder and arm injuries after being dragged across the floor by an XL bully, while an attack by the same breed killed a 34-year-old dad from Fareham, Hampshire in August last year.
A spokesperson for Dog Control Coalition said: “Sadly, the increased popularity of American XL bullies has made them valuable commodities, resulting in irresponsible breeding, rearing and ownership, which can all contribute to an increased likelihood of aggression in dogs, regardless of breed.
“However, the view of all leading animal charities is that the solution is not banning more types. Instead, the government needs to focus on the improvement and enforcement of current breeding and dog control regulations, and on promoting responsible dog ownership and training.”
