Boy, 14, smashed over head with whiskey bottle for confronting beach litterbugs

A boy has had to have 11 stitches on his head after he was attacked with a bottle of whiskey by a group of people on a beach.

The teenager suffered a bad cut to his head and ear when he confronted one of the group for throwing a plastic cup into a rock pool on Perranporth beach, Cornwall. The group, consisting of at least two men and three women, are described as having London accents and a manhunt is now underway.

Police also want witnesses to submit mobile phone footage and pictures of the incident which happened on July 17 at around 6pm.

The man who smashed the bottle was described as being stocky, around 20 years old and with blond hair.

He was then attacked by another person who was slim and wore a light blue top.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “The group are described as having London accents.

‘The man who smashed the whisky bottle on the boy’s head is described as being a white male, around 20 years of age, with blond hair, of stocky build and around 5ft 9in in height. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.’
