Of the 2,798 polled readers who revealed how they felt about the prospect of new restrictions, 73 percent, stood against the idea of closing schools. A total of 26 percent thought schools should shut, and one percent were not sure.

The readers were quizzed after the Prime Minister refused to rule out further restrictions after Christmas amid a spike in the Covid Omicron variant.
Scotland and Wales have already moved to introduce additional Covid measures from Boxing Day, including limits on household mixing, limits on sporting events, and nightclub closures.
While he has yet to further his already controversial “Plan B” measures, Mr Johnson said he “can’t rule out” a similar move for England.
Readers took to the comments section to share their thoughts on more Covid restrictions.
One reader, Robert, said: “The schools should not close! Our children’s education is the most important thing for the future of them and our country.”
Another agreed: “They have missed too much of their education and teachers just want to teach in the classroom, no matter what the unions say.”
One voter wrote: “It is time to live with it and get on with living. We cannot continue to go into financial ruin.
“Scientists need to keep up their game and continue to develop effective medication.”
66 percent of respondents said Boris should not re-introduce limits on household mixing, whilst 32 percent said he should, and two percent weren’t sure.
A total of 43 percent of voters said Boris should shut nightclubs, against 53 percent who said he should not, and four percent who didn’t know.
Whilst 52 percent of voters said international travel should not be closed down, 42 percent thought the borders should be totally shut, and six percent were not sure.
The news emerged as the World Health Organisation urged people to scale back or cancel their Christmas get togethers.
WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned: “It’s better to cancel now and celebrate later than to celebrate now and grieve later.”

Yesterday a further 90,629 positive Covid tests were recorded, and 15,363 cases of the Omicron variant emerged, taking the total number of UK Omicron cases to 60,508.
In light of the data, one scientist called the Prime Minister’s decision to let Christmas go ahead, without further restrictions “brave” and “very risky”.
Prof Lawrence Young, a virologist at the University of Warwick, told Sky News: “This is a very risky approach and is very likely to result in the need for more stringent restrictions in the near future.”
“Given the extraordinarily and inexorable rapid spread of the omicron variant, it’s never been more important for people to take individual responsibility to protect themselves, their families and friends.”
He added: “If the Omicron variant continues to spread at the current rate, it is inevitable that more restrictions will be necessary in England.
“Waiting for case numbers and hospitalisations to increase is likely to be too late to suppress the spread of the omicron variant and will subject the NHS to unprecedented pressure.”
