Boris Johnson takes mini-me son Wilfred for stroll in his buggy

Boris Johnson has been spotted stepping out for a stroll with youngest son Wilfred, despite urging Brits to stay at home this weekend.

The Prime Minister wore a bright red beanie bearing the Welsh flag as he climbed out of a car and placed Wilfred into a pushchair. It is believed he took the eight-month-old for a walk in the Buckingham Palace Gardens, the Mail Online reports.

Carrie Symonds did not join the pair for their walk. Johnson did not wear a coat for the outing despite the January weather, and a small stain could be seen visible on the back of his shirt.

He and Ms Symonds have not shared any photos of their son’s face publicly, but it would appear the youngster has already inherited his dad’s infamous thick blonde hair.

Johnson previously begged members of the public to ‘think twice’ about leaving their homes this weekend, as cases of the virus continue to soar. Today a further 38,598 infections were recorded, while 671 more people died with Covid.

The PM said on Friday: ‘Think twice before leaving the house this weekend. Jab by jab we will win this fight. But for now it’s crucial we continue to protect the NHS and save lives by staying home.’

He added: ‘We’ve already vaccinated hundreds of thousands more people than any other country in Europe. But until the job is done, we must keep this virus under control.’

Johnson also reminded people that the safest thing to do is to ‘assume you have Covid’ and follow lockdown instructions accordingly.

Last week, the PM faced some criticism after he was seen cycling in the Olympic Park seven miles away from his home on Downing Street.

Official Covid-19 guidance states: ‘You may exercise on your own, with one other person, or with your household or support bubble. This should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.’

Johnson’s walk with Wilfred today comes as thousands of people across Brighton, Newcastle, Sheffield and London ventured outside to exercise in the winter sun.

On Saturday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock was also spotted ‘covered head to toe in mud’ after playing rugby with his son in a park in North London.
