Boris Johnson revealed scant details about his new son, Wilfred, at the Government daily briefing. The Prime Minister’s child with fiancée Carrie Symonds was born on April 29. Daily Mail reporter Jason Groves quizzed the UK leader over how the parenting was going.

Mr Groves asked: “Can I ask on a personal note how Wilfred is getting on, is he keeping you awake at night?

“Has he seen his grandparents yet?”

The Prime Minister replied: “As for your question about Wilfred, I never normally comment about these sorts of things.

“But it’s all fine so far, thanks, Jason, all doing well.”

Ms Symonds confirmed that the baby had been named in tribute to his grandparents and the doctors who treated the PM when he was in ICU.

She wrote in an Instagram post: “Introducing Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson born on 29.04.20 at 9am.

“Wilfred after Boris’s grandfather, Lawrie after my grandfather, Nicholas after Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart – the two doctors that saved Boris’s life last month.

“Thank you so, so much to the incredible NHS maternity team at UCLH that looked after us so well. I couldn’t be happier. My heart is full.”
