Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor Ahuja warns fans after ‘scary’ London Uber ride

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has warned fans to not use Uber in London after she had the “scariest experience”.

The 34-year-old, who splits her time between London and India, said she was “super shaken” after she used the ride-hailing app on Wednesday night.

Ahuja, daughter of Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor, said her Uber driver was “unstable and was yelling and shouting”.

“I was shaking by the end of it,” she said on Twitter to her 12.8 million followers.

The award-winning actress, who has a house in London with her businessman husband Anand Ahuja, added: “Please please be careful. The best and safest is just to use the local public transportation or cabs.

“I’m super shaken.”

Uber said in a reply on Twitter: “Sorry to hear about this, Sonam. Can you please send us a DM with your email address and mobile so we can look into this?”

The actress, who is one of Bollywood’s most highly paid actresses, replied that she tried to complain on the app but “got multiple disconnected replies by bots”.

The company told the Daily Mail: “It is a regrettable and concerning incident. What’s been described has no place on the Uber app and we’re reviewing the matter.”

Sky News has contacted Uber for comment.

The star’s experience is the latest in an already bad few months for Uber after it had its London licence stripped in November.

Authorities found more than 14,000 trips were taken with drivers who had faked their identity on the firm’s app.

Uber appealed the decision in December so, until that process is complete, it is allowed to continue operating in the capital.

Ahuja’s travelling between the UK and India appears to have not been all that smooth, with the actress cutting ties with British Airways a week before the Uber incident for losing her luggage.

She tweeted: “This is the third time I’ve travelled British Airways this month and the second time they’ve lost my bags.

“I think I’ve learnt my lesson. I’m never flying British Airways again.”
