Body of boy, 10, found in caravan next to semi-detached house

A boy has died after he was found unconscious at a home in Birmingham.

A neighbour who did not want to be named said the boy’s body was discovered in a caravan next to the property.

West Midlands Police confirmed the boy, aged 10, died after being taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called to a home in Blossomville Way, Acocks Green, at around 7.30am.

A spokesperson said: ‘The boy was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.

‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place in due course.

‘Police inquiries are ongoing.’

Emergency services called to the property this morning were seen going into the caravan, the neighbour said.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the property at 7.19am and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car.

A spokesman added: ‘On arrival we discovered one patient, a boy, who was in a critical condition. He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being transported to Heartlands Hospital.

‘Sadly, it later became apparent at hospital that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased.’

A police van and officers remain at the scene.
