Black man 'filmed white neighbour calling him n****r six times'
A woman in her 30s has been arrested in London after a black man claimed that his neighbour repeatedly called him the N word.
Jamal Perry, who lives in Hackney, London, says he was abused by the woman in his own home, where he filmed the incident after asking a white woman to leave.
Footage seen by Metro.co.uk appears to show a woman abusing Mr Perry and shouting ’n****r’ at him at least six times. Mr Perry, 26, claims the incident on Sunday, June 14, was sparked by asking the woman not to feed their cats.
Video also shows the woman trying to hit the camera out of Mr Perry’s hand and flicking a middle finger at him.
As the argument progresses, she walks back towards another house and stands with her arms in the air as Mr Perry, a sports coach and club development officer for local charity, accuses her of being racist.
The incident comes in the wake of a global backlash against racism, sparked by the killing of George Floyd in the USA.
Black lives matter protesters have repeatedly turned out in force in London, to demand change and draw attention to all forms of racism in the UK.
A housemate in the video describes a note apparently given to the neighbour about their cats as ‘such a nice note, it was a polite note’.
Mr Perry, who lives with his girlfriend and another housemate, claimed the cats had been coming home smelling like another home and not eating properly.
He said a polite note was posted through a neighbour’s door asking for the feeding to ‘please stop’.
In the footage, filmed the next day, he repeatedly tells the woman to ‘go home’ before she appears to use the racial slur towards Mr Perry.
He asks her to say the phrase again and a housemate appears to tell her to ‘get out of our house, racist b****’.
The woman moves her arm towards the device in an apparent effort to stop the filming and Mr Perry calls her a ‘racist motherf***er’ as the group move outside.
The woman in the footage uses the N word again and slaps the camera, before putting her middle finger up.
She appears to use the slur at least another three times and put her hands in the air while being called racist.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called at 2.53pm on 14 June after a 26-year-old man reported that he had been racially abused in Urswick Road E9.
‘Officers attended. A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and taken into custody.
‘She was bailed to return on a date in mid-July. Enquiries continue.’
