The tragic diary entry by Bernadette Walker, 17, was revealed as Scott Walker, 51, was found guilty yesterday of her death.

Her body has never been found but a six-week trial at Cambridge Crown Court heard that she vanished a year ago after making the allegations.

She wrote how her mum, Sarah Walker, 38, of Peterborough, did not believe her. Bernadette said: “She called me a liar and threatened to kill me if I told the police. She said that the other kids matter more.”

She added: “I feel nothing right now cause I always thought mum would deal with [sic] and it would all go away. But no, he’s still here telling me I made it up. What kind of parent wouldn’t believe their daughter?

“But it’s fine, I’m going to pretend it’s okay till I leave home, then I will block them out of my life. I’d rather say I’m an orphan than say I have abusive parents who couldn’t give a **** about me…If I was brave enough I probably would have already left, or just killed myself.”

It is still not known how Bernadette was killed but the last confirmed sighting of her was when Scott Walker picked her up from his parents’ home in Peterborough on July 18 last year. She had been there as a result of the claims she had made the previous day against the man she knew as “dad”.

He did not bring her back to their home, also in Peterborough. His mobile phone activated cell sites in two areas of the city, both in the opposite direction. It disconnected for an hour and a half. In the following 48 hours, he and Sarah Walker made trips to a lock-up garage as well as to a rural area of Lincolnshire by night.

Passwords on Bernadette’s social media accounts were changed and messages were sent to make it look as though she had simply run away. For seven weeks, the couple deceived friends, family and police with a false trail to suggest Bernadette was alive.

Scott Walker was found guilty of murder and two counts of perverting the course of justice.

Sarah Walker admitted two charges of perverting the course of justice by sending false messages and giving false information to the police.

She was found guilty of two other similar charges. She had previously been charged with murder but the allegations were later dropped.
