Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has been photographed beaming at a baby during a visit to Christopher’s, a Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, in Guildford. The royal was snapped smiling as she cradled the little tot in her arms and chatting to children on the visit on Tuesday. 

As royal patron, the Duchess officially opened Christopher’s in 2002 and has continued her support for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices with regular visits and hosting fundraising events.

The charity looks after babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. It is supported by celebrities, including Simon Cowell and Dame Joan Collins.
