BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg documentary films former Cabinet minister PLOTTING against Boris
The BBC Political Editor recorded the shocking exchange as part of her latest documentary The Brexit Storm Continued: Laura Kuenssberg’s Inside Story. Conservative MP David Gauke, who quit the Cabinet after Boris Johnson was first elected as leader of the party in July, could be seen speaking on the phone as he urged his interlocutor “not to believe” Brexit updates coming from Number 10. Mr Gauke could be heard saying: “I wouldn’t believe the stuff that’s coming from Number 10.
“That they made progress with the EU, that they’ve changed their positions. It just isn’t true.
“If Parliament is going to act, it is going to have to act next week. Where I am, I will support that.”
Former Justice Secretary Gauke was one of the 21 MPs who lost their right to vote as members of the Conservative Party after they voted against Boris Johnson’s attempt to deliver on Brexit by October 31.
Earlier in the programme, Mr Gauke said: “Boris said to me, ‘I’m not a no deal fanatic, I want a deal.’

“I pressed him a bit on how he’s going to do that and I think it’s fair to say that I didn’t get detailed answers.
“As of today, I don’t see what the plan is, I don’t know if a plan has been articulated. I think it’s dangerous.”
Weeks after the documentary was filmed however the Prime Minister returned from a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels with a new withdrawal agreement to put forward to MPs.
Mr Johnson attempted to have his proposed deal fast-tracked through the Commons but was thwarted as parliamentarians rejected his three-day deadline devised to meet the exit deadline on October 31.

The Prime Minister has since won an overwhelming majority after a snap general election last Thursday, securing 365 seats out of 650 available in the Commons.
Mr Johnson is now expected to table his Brexit withdrawal agreement again on Friday after sources close to Number 10 suggested the Government is researching new measures to ensure no further extension is requested past December 2020.
A panicking EU lashed out at Boris Johnson’s new aggressive Brexit move, warning the UK not to “sleepwalk” into a no deal scenario at before the end of 2020 and would be “well-prepared, ready to mitigate the effects on its member states”.
But one Brussels diplomat said has said the Prime Minister’s proposed deadline of the end of 2020 would leave both sides worse off.

The UK is due to leave the EU on January 31, and will then enter a transition period – due to conclude in December 2020 – where it remains a member of the bloc in all but name as both sides try to hammer out a deal on their post-Brexit relationship.
The House of Commons is set to vote on an amended Withdrawal Agreement Bill this week that could rule out any further extension.
But the EU has hit back at the Prime Minister, with one senior diplomat warning: “The EU’s position hasn’t changed – we want to negotiate a good deal with our close British neighbours.
But if the UK limits its options prematurely, and sleepwalks into a no-deal at the end of 2020, the EU would be well-prepared, ready to mitigate the effects on its member st
