BBC to give massive payout to whistleblower who exposed Bashir’s Diana interview

The corporation also “apologised unreservedly” for defamatory statements made against senior reporter and producer Mark Killick.

Mr Killick claimed he was sacked and smeared after alerting his bosses to forged bank statements used to persuade Diana to give the Panorama interview in 1995.

Yesterday, the BBC said it had reached a settlement with Mr Killick. It added that he had “acted entirely properly” in referring his concerns to senior management.
