BBC Question Time audience member SHAMES Theresa May with ‘direct’ plan to deliver Brexit

Theresa May’s Government are in Brexit negotiations with the Labour Party after the Prime Minister reached out to Jeremy Corbyn to help deliver Britain’s exit from the bloc before the Easter break. But, a BBC Question Time audience member criticised the Prime Minister’s EU negotiating, calling for the UK to “waste no more time”. The audience member also called for Mrs May to go directly to leaders of EU member states, and see the UK walk away from the bloc at the end of May.

He said: “Do you not think we are going around in circles again with this everlasting withdrawal argument?

“Do you not think it is time now for us to simply abandon this nonsense about the withdrawal agreement?

“Say, as of May 22, we are no longer in the EU but we are perfectly prepared to have an amicable arrangement with all the European countries.

“Enhance free trade, cooperate fully on the sensible things that we should be cooperating with, the law, security, etc.

Do you not think we are going around in circles again with this everlasting withdrawal argument?

“But, say it directly with the European heads of government.”

He added: “Waste no more time playing about with civil servants in Brussels who have invested interests in being as awkward as possible.

“Don’t forget, just 18-months to two-years ago they were talking about deliberately punishing us to deter others from doing likewise.”

The BBC Question Time audience member received rapturous applause after he delivered his point to the panel.

It comes with the Government still in negotiations with the Labour Party over Brexit, with no concrete progress made so far.

The UK will be forced to take part in European elections at the end of the month if the Prime Minister cannot get a deal through the Commons.

Mrs May is expected to try to get MPs support and get her deal through the House of Commons before the European poll, despite it already being defeated three times.

On Thursday the Conservative Party and Labour Party received a huge backlash in the local elections with the Liberal Democrats and Independent candidates making huge gains.

The Liberal Democrats secured around 200 new councillors, mainly picking up seats in safe Conservative and Labour areas.
