BBC presenter mistakes Sajid Javid for Sadiq Khan during Trump state visit
A BBC news presenter has mistaken Sajid Javid for Sadiq Khan when referring to President Trump’s twitter outburst aimed at the mayor of London.
Mr Javid and Mr Khan, who are both of Pakistani heritage, couldn’t be more different politically, with Sajid Javid, conservative home secretary and Sadiq Khan the Mayor of London for the Labour party.
President Donald Trump had taken to Twitter to call Sadiq Khan a ‘stone cold loser’ just minutes before he touched down in the UK for his three day state visit.
The London mayor had criticised the state visit and said the UK should not be rolling out the red carpet for Trump.
The president tweeted: ‘@SadiqKhan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly ‘nasty’ to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom.
‘He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me.’
However, during his live news report on the state visit later in the day, BBC presenter Christian Fraser says, ‘Sajid Javid was the target for the President’, when referring to the earlier tweet by President Trump.
A number of social media users took to Twitter to point out the mistake.
