Back to work ALREADY? Meghan Markle makes BOLD commitment ahead of royal baby birth

The Duchess of Sussex has apparently made it “clear” that she wants to get back to her royal duties “as soon as possible” according to a royal insider. Meghan is due to have her child this month but according to The Sun, she has told aides that she wants to forgo a possible year-long leave in order to get back quicker. The royal completed her duties six weeks ago in preparation for the birth of her first child but has apparently continued to work with charities behind the scenes.

A royal source told The Sun: “Meghan has made it very clear she wants to return to work as soon as possible.

“She has huge amounts of energy, is extremely determined and wants to be as hands-on as possible with her charities.

“Nothing has been written into her diary just yet, as she wants to wait and see how she feels after having the baby.

“She’s pencilled in three months, but she’ll most likely return to public life in six weeks — on the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, in June.”

As well as Meghan taking time off to give birth to her child, Prince Harry is also taking paternity leave although as of yet it is unknown how long that will be.

In term of her relations, the Duchess of Cambridge took six months after the birth of Prince Louis and five for Charlotte.

In 2013, however, Kate took just a staggering five weeks off the birth of the couple’s first child, Prince George.

Despite Meghan approaching the birth of her first child, according to the royal insider, a three-month maternity period is still very normal.

The aide said: “Three months’ maternity is standard in the US for American mums – they don’t normally get the six or even 12 months women get here in the UK.

“So this is totally normal for Meghan.”

Ahead of the birth of her child, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland flew into the UK last week.

Away from the birth of the royal baby, Prince Louis turned one recently and received a happy birthday message from the Sussex Royal Instagram account.

The message read: “Happy Birthday Louis! Sending lots of love from both of us.”
