Baby becomes multimillionaire thanks to £1m gift from grandfathers

A newborn baby has become a multimillionaire just two days after being born, thanks to a birthday gift from her generous grandfathers. They gave her a £1 million house and a £5 million trust fund and are ecstatic with the new addition to the family, saying they now have a “new princess to spoil”.

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, who, along with his ex-husband Tony Drewitt-Barlow, made history in 1999 as the first registered gay couple to become parents through surrogacy, celebrated the arrival of twins Saffron and Aspen, followed by a son named Orlando.

Barrie and Tony separated in 2019, and Barrie entered into a relationship with his new partner Scott Hutchinson, who previously dated his own daughter.

Together, they welcomed a daughter named Valentina in October 2020 and a son named Romeo in 2022.

With a reported net worth of £200million, the 51-year-old businessman has now shared his wealth with his daughter Saffron passing it on to her newborn daughter.

He told The Sun: “I just bought her a new house this weekend worth £1 million and I’ve instructed a team of interior designers to go in and totally renovate it for her.

“Aspen just bought them a £5,000 Dior pram and pushchair.”

He added: “And as this is Tony’s first grandchild, he has set up a £5million trust fund for her, so she is already a multimillionaire.”

Proud grandfather Barrie posted a picture of his new granddaughter on Instagram along with the message: “My girl had a girl of her very own today!

“The last couple of weeks has been very traumatic but finally today – my new princess arrived!!

“I would like to introduce you all to Marina Drewitt-Barlow-Tucker born 36 weeks and 3 days… 24.06.2023. 6lbs 9oz, 3:58am – Tony Drewitt-Barlow and I could not be prouder of Saffron Drewitt-Barlow and Conor Tucker for producing this little Princess for our family!

“Our first granddaughter and a new princess to spoil x.”

Barrie and Tony, based in Manchester, have amassed their substantial wealth through various business ventures, including a trans-Atlantic surrogacy enterprise and a global medical research company.

This display of generosity is not out of character for Barrie, who annually spends £4 million on his family Christmas festivities.

In the previous year, he went the extra mile by gifting his newborn son Romeo a £2.5 million yacht, aptly named after him.

Despite his opulent lifestyle, Barrie recently gained a contrasting perspective on life in Britain when he participated in the Channel 5 show “Rich House Poor House.”

Through this experience, he swapped lives with a struggling mother and had to make a mere £57 budget last for an entire week, offering him a unique insight into different circumstances.
