One way is to conduct some shopping at Asda, but with the hours often changing on Bank holiday weekends, what times can you visit Asda in Scotland today?
August 5 marks the Summer bank holiday Monday for Scotland – differing from the rest of Britain where it is celebrated on August 26.
Scottish Bank holidays are set by Scottish Ministers and consistent across the whole of Scotland.
However, public or local holidays are determined by local authorities and can differ between areas.
Not everyone is entitled to paid leave on bank or public holidays, those in any doubt are advised to check the position with their employer.
Banks in Scotland do not always close on Scottish bank holidays and instead for business reasons, Scottish banks tend to close on the same day as those in England and Wales.
As there are no law requiring banks or any other businesses to close on bank holidays, many businesses remain open, operating different hours.
Many shops and supermarkets have special bank holiday opening times, so it is advised that anyone wishing to conduct some shopping checks before popping out to their nearest stores.
Asda stores will be operating different opening times depending on their size and location.
All 24 hour Asda branches are expected to open as usual on bank holiday Monday.
However, smaller branches are most likely due to be open from 8am to 10pm.

After the Summer Bank Holiday in Scotland is over, there are three remaining bank holidays this year.
The first is St Andrew’s Day on Monday, November 30 and is Scotland’s national day.
It was declared a bank holiday by the Scottish Parliament in 2006, if 30 November occurs on a weekend, the bank holiday is moved to the following Monday.
Employers are not required by law to give employees a holiday on the St Andrew’s Day bank holiday.
St Andrew’s Day is marked with a celebration of Scottish culture with traditional Scottish food and music and it is seen as the start of a season of winter festivals including Hogmanay and Burns Night.
Other than St Andrew’s Day, the only other bank holidays this year are Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
