Images taken at the scene show a large police cordon is in place at the top of North Street, Brighton. One eyewitness said there were dozens of officers, including armed police, and eight police cars stationed along the busy road in the town centre. Information coming from Brighton and Hove buses state the incident was near the Imperial Arcade. The bus company said it was diverting buses away from the scene as police deploy.

According to the Twitter feed “Sussex News”, armed police were seen arresting a man queueing at the bus stop.
