Armed police race to London hospital after two ‘stabbed’ and ‘throat slit’

Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested after reports of two stabbings at a hospital in London. Emergency services have rushed to the scene at Central Middlesex Hospital in Acton Lane, Park Royal (NW10) at around 2pm on Wednesday afternoon. There have been unconfirmed reports of a stabbing, and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for the Met Police’s North West division wrote on Twitter: “We’re aware of an incident at Central Middlesex Hospital in Brent. Armed officers are among those responding. A man has been arrested. More information to follow.”

One patient wrote on social media: “I am at Middlesex Central hospital in the dialysis unit and we’re sheltering in safe rooms. Armed policemen are on the scene, being described as a ‘major incident’.”

A second added that there have been reports of a stabbing, but this is unconfirmed. They said: “Hearing Central Middlesex Hospital has been evacuated due to stabbings on site.”

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told MyLondon: “We were called today (21 June) at 1:18pm to reports of an incident at Central Middlesex Hospital. We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic, an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. Our teams have so far treated two people at the scene. The incident is still ongoing.”

One person tweeted: “Two staff members got stabbed at my place of work at NHS, one had his throat slit.”

Central Middlesex Hospital sits on Acton Lane, West London, on the Park Royal business estate straddling the borders of Brent and Ealing.

It is managed by the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
