Archie Harrison’s lack of a Prince Royal title was highlighted by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during the couple’s unprecedented sit down with US TV host Oprah Winfrey. The fallout from the interview, which ITV aired on Monday night, has sparked renewed scrutiny over how titles are handed out between the Queen’s grandchildren. Among a string of explosive claims made by Meghan, the Duchess hinted to Oprah that her son had been treated unfairly compacted to his cousins, the children of William and Kate.
Royal expert Antonio Caprarica has provided a constitutional explanation for the Palace’s decision not to provide Archie with a “courtesy title” rather than the HRH style.
He told Rolling Stones Italia: “Not all of Elizabeth’s direct grandchildren have the princely title.
“Little Archie has a courtesy title as Earl of Dumbarton, but he is not a prince for the simple reason that only those of direct succession to the throne are princes: Charles, William and William’s sons.
“It’s all a hoax, let’s face it.
It comes as Buckingham Palace released a statement to address the concerns raised by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry but omitted their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.
The Queen claimed the entire Royal Family had been left saddened by the revelations made during the tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. Due to the severity of the allegations, she stated the Royal Family was left concerned.
Her Majesty also insisted the accusations surrounding race will be addressed in private by the palace.
The statement read this evening: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Meghan and Harry.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
Meghan told Oprah in her explosive one-to-one that the subject of her baby’s skin colour was raised when she was pregnant with Archie, who is nearly two years old now.

She claimed that around that time was also when she was told her baby would not be a Prince or Princess or receive state-funded security.
She said: “In those months that I was pregnant, all around the same time, so we had in tandem the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.
“There were several conversations with Harry [about how dark her baby’s skin might be] potentially and what that would mean or look like.”
She added that she would not reveal who made the comments, because it would be “very damaging to them”.
