Meghan Markle and Harry are said to have made a decision following the birth of Archie Harrison to not present him outside the hospital as is normally the custom for royal births. According to royal photographer Gent Gavin, the Duchess of Sussex opted to instead to break for tradition and “changed the rulebook totally.” Royal babies have been presented to the world and the awaiting press on the steps of The Lindo Wing Of St Mary’s Hospital in London but Harry and Meghan reportedly decided to sidestep the tradition with Archie.

Mr Gavin told Channel 5 documentary, ‘Secrets of the Royals’ that: “Meghan didn’t want it at all.

“I mean she has changed the rule book totally.

“I don’t know whether she went and did it because just changing tradition, she doesn’t want to have that frenzy.”

Entrepreneur and aristocrat Julie Montagu told the show she saw the appeal of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex not wanting to present Archie in the normal way.

She said: “Listen I have had for children,

“I can’t imagine having to give birth and then have air and make-up done, put on a dress and a pair of heels

“And stand outside my hospital and have a photo opportunity.”

The Sussexes in the end chose an intimate official picture to make the birth of their first child at Windsor Castle.

Ms Montagu said: “I love that Meghan came out and really showed her post bump.”

It comes as Archie’s lack of a prince title was highlighted by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during the couple’s unprecedented sit down with US TV host Oprah Winfrey.

The fallout from the interview, which ITV aired on Monday night, has sparked renewed scrutiny over how titles are handed out between the Queen’s great-grandchildren.

Among a string of explosive claims made by Meghan, the Duchess hinted to Oprah that her son had been treated unfairly compacted to his cousins, the children of William and Kate.

During the interview the Duchess of Sussex said she and Harry “weren’t asked to take a picture” when quizzed about reports saying they had decided to break with royal tradition for their firstborn.

Meghan also told Oprah in her explosive one-to-one that the subject of her baby’s skin colour was raised when she was pregnant with Archie, who is nearly two years old now.

She claimed that around that time was also when she was told her baby would not be a prince or princess or receive state-funded security.

She said: “In those months that I was pregnant, all around the same time, so we had in tandem the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.

“There were several conversations with Harry [about how dark her baby’s skin might be] potentially and what that would mean or look like.”
