Newly released documents by the Intelligence Security Committee (ISC) showed the Russian Government has been interfering in British politics. While on Sky News with Kay Burley, Remainer Femi Oluwole claimed Brexiteers were being “hypocritical” for not demanding to know more about the role Russia played in Brexit. Mr Oluwole soon faced a backlash after his comments with many questioning whether Remainers would continue to try and stop Brexit.

Mr Oluwole said: “It is very legitimate to look into whether there was an outside influence.

“I find it quite ironic that the people who supposedly championed Brexit as a way to get rid of foreign influence in our democracy seem to not care at all that Russians seem to be trying to influence in our democratic processes.

“It is quite hypocritical regardless of whether or not there was any actual impact there.

“The report shows that the Government actively avoided finding out whether or not the Russian Government interfered in our democracy.”

Mr Oluwole also admitted Brexiteers would not admit that Russia had any influence on their choice to vote for Brexit.

He said: “Let’s be frank, no Brexiteer and no Leave voter is going to say ‘sorry I voted Leave, Vladimir made me do it’.

“The fact is we should be looking into whether there was an influence in this.

“It was a very close vote , 52-48 and it has had massive implications in the country.”

Sky viewers quickly took to Twitter after Mr Oluwole’s comments to voice their frustration.

One Twitter user wrote: “He is spouting sanctimonious claptrap trying his best to look intelligent.

“It’s not happening is it?

“We are sick of gawps trying to plug us in, sickening.”

Another added: “Sky giving airtime to this empty vessel still I see.

“Just like that Owen Jones and that Ash whatever her name is.

“They really are utterly confused individuals.

“Sixth form politicking at best.”

While another mocked: “I’d have thought he’d literally bored everyone in the country by now.

“I can’t understand why people still watch this garbage.”
