On Tuesday, the UK Government announced 96 new deaths from the deadly pathogen. This figure is up 92 percent since the week previously and is the highest death rate since March. However, although approximately 70 percent of Britons have been double vaccinated, many people refuse to take the inoculation as they believe it is part of a Government conspiracy.

However, Doctor Ami Jones, an intensive-care consultant said that by the time patients realise they made the wrong decision about taking the vaccination, “it’s too late”.

Speaking to the Daily Mail Doctor Jones said: “I’ve had some very hard-line anti-vaxxers and Covid-deniers.

“I’ve heard of family members who refuse to believe their loved one was dying of Covid.

“They thought doctors were colluding with the Government and making it up.

“Some are convinced their loved ones are actually suffering non-Covid-related pneumonia.

It has been reported that a London-based emergency medicine consultant claimed that a patient had requested that his death certificate if he were to succumb to the disease, should not mention the word Covid.

The consultant said: “It’s totally baffling.

“Some say we’re getting confused with flu.

“That’s what they’ve seen someone with zero qualifications on social media saying.

“Families have said to me they don’t want to adhere to visiting restrictions because they don’t believe the virus is real.

“This is despite the fact their loved one is desperately sick in front of them.

“They think something else is going on.

“I’m not quite sure what.

Doctor Jones concluded that he must “keep it professional”.

He added that: “It’s not my job to correct people.

“I calmly explain that this is, in fact, a very real disease and we have seen dozens of people with it, and it makes them very sick.”

In the last 24 hours, the number of people to test positive for the pathogen in the UK was 31,795.

Hospitals admissions for the disease increased in the last 7 days by 26.7 percent on the previous week, with hospitalisations at 5,490.
