Ann Widdecombe sparks thunderous applause as Boris warned to ‘heed to people or go’
Ann Widdecombe said Boris Johnson will feel like “leading the light brigade” if the Government goes back on its pledge to see Brexit through “come what may” in October. Addressing a packed rally in London, the Brexit Party MEP said she is ready to back the Prime Minister if he agrees to a clean-break withdrawal from the European Union but warned she is ready to “volley and thunder” if he reneges on his word. Speaking on Friday at the Emmanuel Centre, Ms Widdecombe said: “I do not know whether Boris really means it when he says we are going on October 31 but if he does mean it, and even more important than that, if he can really achieve it and if he achieves it with a clean break then we the Brexit Party will do all we can to make sure he is able to carry that forward.
“But if he doesn’t, he is going to find that the next general election for him will be like leading the charge of the light brigade.
“Brexit to the right of him, Brexit to the left of him, Brexit in front of him volleying and thundering.”
The South West England MEP, one of 29 Brexit Party candidates who secured seats in Brussels at the European election in May, reiterated the party has 650 prospective candidates at the ready to field against the Conservative Party in the next general election.
She continued: “We mean it. We have the candidates in place, we are ready whenever the general election comes.

“When we call out, we are ready. We are not just saying that to the nation, we are not just saying it to ourselves – it is a solid warning to Westminster.
“Heed the people or go, and we will make sure that you do.
“We are going to leave, and when we say leave we mean leave. Theresa May’s deal is not leaving, that is not leaving and if that’s what we end up with, we’re going to be around causing trouble for a very long time to come.”
Ms Widdecombe also issued a scathing message to Parliament over their inability to agree to a Brexit plan in over two years of negotiations with the European Union.

She added: “My message to Parliament is this – hear the people, heed the people, obey the people which is what you said you would do.
“Make sure that your children and your children’s children grow up in a free, independent Britain, which is what we all should be campaigning for.”
Members of the audience could be seen clapping through Ms Widdecombe’s speech, with several outbursts of thunderous applause.
Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage on Friday warned the Prime Minister he will lose further support from British voters because they “do not trust the Conservative Party to deliver.

Mr Farage told Sky News: “He’s marching up to the top of the hill but the trouble is, one day, he may well have to march them back down again. Voters will have nowhere to go but the Brexit Party.
“Boris hasn’t just taken the language that I’ve been using – Ken Clarke made that point in the House of Commons a couple of days ago.
“Even in policy terms, everything we talked about about the failing infrastructure and everything else, they’ve taken all of it.”
The Brexit Party leader added: “They thought that if Boris sounded like me, they’d take the Brexit Party vote. You know what?
“That isn’t happening because people do not trust the Conservative Party to deliver. They’re just not sure when Boris Johnson says this stuff whether he actually believes in it.”
