Andrew was ‘left money in Queen’s will’ to stay at his beloved Royal Lodge
Prince Andrew is facing an ongoing battle over his home in Royal Lodge, Windsor, as his brother the King is understood to want to evict him from his home of over 20 years. But the Duke of York is kicking his heels in and refusing to move, even staying at the 30-room mansion while extensive building works take place to ensure he keeps a hold over the place. But now it appears the late Queen may have ensured Andrew was able to keep his beloved home.
Inheritance money from the late monarch has made it possible for Andrew to foot the bill for the expensive repairs needed on Royal Lodge, OK! magazine reports.
A source close to the royal said that Andrew was left a sizeable sum in his mother’s will that has enabled him to pay for the upkeep of his home.
Royal Lodge is in need of vast refurbishments, with the repainting of the exterior estimated to cost £1million alone, and it had been claimed that the Duke was unable to manage the costs of it following the King’s decision to slash his £249,000 annual allowance.
“There was money left to the family by the Queen,” the source explained. “Details of the exact amounts and to whom will never be revealed because the papers have been sealed.

“But that’s where Andrew is getting the money from to repair Royal Lodge.
“He’s been quite open about where the money has come from because he doesn’t want people to think he has come up with it through other means.”
Andrew bought a 75-year lease on the Grade-II listed house in Windsor Great Park in 2003, following the death of the Queen Mother in 2002.
King Charles is keen to downsize his property portfolio and has suggested Andrew moves into the much more modest home of Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

This would allow the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children to move into Royal Lodge, as their current Windsor residence is deemed too small for the family-of-five.
Prince William and Kate currently live in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, having moved from their apartment in Kensington Palace, London last October.
But the four-bedroom home has been deemed “unsuitable” for an extended stay as the young family requires more room.
The King has no power to remove Andrew from Royal Lodge because it is owned by the Crown Estate, an arms-length property empire that makes money for the Government.
