Andrew Bridgen reveals May’s BIGGEST error in Brexit talks – ‘EU didn’t believe her’

Tory Brexiteer Andrew Bridgen explained why Theresa May failed in Brexit negotiations and noted how the UK should proceed to deliver on Brexit. He insisted that Theresa May failed to convince the European Union that the country was serious on leaving without a deal which resulted in the EU offering a dissatisfying deal. While speaking to BBC he said: “I think one of the main problems with Theresa May was that she never convinced the European Union that we were actually willing to leave with no deal.

“So we never ever had a chance of getting a deal that was acceptable.

“I’m not so concerned about no deal as there has been a lot of preparation for it and a lot of legislation has been passed both here and on the continent.

“If we go with no deal we can immediately trigger GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade), Article 24.

“We can offer the European Union reciprocal tariff and quota-free trading, exactly as we have got at the moment until we negotiate that detailed free trade agreement.”

The BBC news presenter then added how other MPs have been suggesting one of the biggest issues is the EU did not take the UK seriously regarding leaving with no deal.

She also highlighted how the EU has said multiple times that this is the deal the UK has been offered and are not willing to reopen negotiations.

Mr Bridgen replied: “Well, the EU would hold that position.

“But if not then we have to leave on 31 October on a managed no deal and offer them GATT 24.”

After the Conservative Parties latest failure in the European elections, the Tory party hopes to still satisfy the electorate by delivering on Brexit with a new pro-Leaver Tory leader.

Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party came out as the clear winner last night securing the most seats in the UK, with the pro-EU Lib Dems coming second.

In contrast, the Conservatives and Labour suffered heavy losses, with the former expected to get less than 10 percent of the vote.
