Amine Laouar, 21, stabbed Leon Street, 48, to death as he walked to the shops last January, the Old Bailey heard. Minutes earlier Laouar knifed Mirvais Khan in Neasden, north London, piercing his lung.
He remained at large and six days later, Mitul Karaniya was stabbed at the same spot as Mirvais and suffered broken ribs and punctured lungs.
Laouar denied murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent.
But the DNA was on the two knives used.
