Meghan and Prince Harry shocked the world last week as they shared an insight into why they quit as working members of the Royal Family. The Duchess of Sussex said there were “concerns and conversations” about Archie’s skin colour before he was born, as well as saying she was denied help when she was struggling with her mental health and that a disagreement with Kate Middleton left her in tears ahead of her wedding. Meghan’s friend Ms King later said she had spoken to the couple after their interview was aired and said the royals have not spoken to Meghan after she made her claims.
But former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan reacted angrily to Ms King as he demanded she asks Harry and Meghan about the “lies they told” instead.
He wrote on Twitter: “Hi Gayle King – rather than acting as your Sussex friends’ PR mouthpiece to facilitate their ongoing public trashing of our Royal Family, how about doing your job as a journalist and ask them about all the lies they told in Oprah’s interview?
“America should hear THE truth.”
Buckingham Palace said the race issues raised by Meghan and Harry were “concerning”.
It added the claims would be “taken very seriously” and dealt with privately.
Prince William also said the royals were “very much not racist” during an engagement in east London last week.
However, Ms King told CBS This Morning: “Meghan has documents to back up everything that she said on Oprah’s interview. Everything”.
She also shared that Prince Harry spoke to his father Prince Charles and William over the weekend for the first time since the interview aired.
She added: “The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive.
“But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.
“And I think what is still upsetting to them is the Palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still.”
She also added that “no one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time.”

Piers quit his role as a host on Good Morning Britain shortly after the interview was aired after he said he did not believe a word the Duchess had said in her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, including claims she felt suicidal.
Following widespread backlash, ITV confirmed he had stepped down from his job on GMB.
They said in a statement: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
He also hit back on Twitter after it emerged his comments on Good Morning Britain last week about Meghan were the most complained about TV moment ever.
Ofcom said it had received 57,000 complaints.
Piers wrote: “Only 57,000? I’ve had more people than that come up & congratulate me in the street for what I said.
“The vast majority of Britons are right behind me.”
Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah is available on the ITV Hub now.
