Meghan Markle going “head to head” with Donald Trump in the 2024 US presidential race would be “one to watch”, according to a royal commentator. Suggestions that the Duchess of Sussex could successfully run as the Democratic Party’s candidate have “ramped up” in the wake of her candid interview with Oprah Winfrey. Daily Telegraph Royal Editor Camilla Tominey discussed the former working royal’s “political ambitions” on ITV This Morning.
She told viewers: “Oh my goodness me, I don’t even want to imagine a celebrity deathmatch between Trump and Meghan.
“I think I know who’d win actually, and I don’t think it’s the Donald.
“Wouldn’t it be great, just for copy, journalistically, to see them both go head-to-head in 2024?
“I love that this idea of Meghan as the next President has really ramped up now in the aftermath of the Oprah interview.”
