Adorable picture of Prince Charles looking BORED at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation emerges

The Royal Collection has celebrated the anniversary by posting a picture of a bored looking Prince Charles on their official Instagram account. The Prince of Wales looked glum at the historic event in June 1953 as he stands next to his grandmother, The Queen Mother, and aunt, Princess Margaret. Many users on social media found the situation funny and left comments on the image.

One user posted: “Prince Charles is still waiting”, while another said: “Prince Charles… ‘this could take a while’”.

The Prince of Wales was just four years old at the time of his mother’s coronation and is now the longest serving heir-apparent of the country, being second in line to the throne for 67 years.

The expression is almost a carbon-copy of one which was used by Prince George at the Trooping the Colour event in 2017 while standing next to his father, the Duke of Cambridge.

The 66th anniversary of the coronation was also marked by the Royal Family’s Instagram page. The official account posted a photo of Prince Phillip smiling at the Queen as she stands in front of the crowd on the balcony at Buckingham Palace after the ceremony.

The Queen was coronated at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953 and is the longest serving monarch in British history.

She ascended to the top job just four months earlier in February 1952 when her father, King George VI passed away aged 56.

According to the Royal family’s official website, Prince Charles was the first child to witness his mother’s coronation as Sovereign because his sister, Princess Anne, was too young to attend. The Prince of Wales also received a hand-painted invitation to the event which was attended by over 8,000 guests from 129 nations.

The coronation saw street parties hosted up and down Britain as many flocked to buy television sets to watch the special occasion. Some 27 million watched the ceremony with a further 11 million tuning in on the radio.

Some 82 shots were fired in Green Park yesterday, 41 of these were in celebration of the Queen’s coronation while the rest were to mark the moment President Trump arrived at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen will mark her official 93rd birthday at Trooping the Colour next weekend where senior royals join the household cavalry in a display down the Mall.

Over 1400 soldiers and 200 horses will attend the event which is expected to be Prince Louis’ first official engagement as a senior member of the Royal family. The Duchess of Sussex is tipped to attend despite giving birth to her first child, Archie Harrison, just weeks ago.
